Municipal wastewater is mainly generated from the following three sources:
1. Residential Daily Activities
Wastewater is generated by daily activities such as cooking, bathroom use, bathing, and laundry. It mainly contains organic matter, suspended solids (SS), grease, nitrogen, and phosphorus. This wastewater requires appropriate treatment before it can be discharged.
2. Public Facility Operations
Wastewater from schools, hospitals, sports venues, and public buildings varies in composition depending on the type of facility and how it is used. These differences need to be considered when selecting suitable municipal wastewater treatment processes.
3. Stormwater Runoff and Infiltration into Sewer Systems
In combined sewer systems, or when pipeline leakage or cross-connections occur, stormwater and external water may enter the wastewater collection system. This can cause fluctuations in wastewater flow and introduce sediment, oil, and other pollutants, affecting wastewater treatment plant operation.
Municipal wastewater treatment plays a crucial role in protecting water resources and maintaining a healthy environment. This project has a daily municipal wastewater treatment capacity of 34,870 gallons, with wastewater primarily generated from residential and public buildings. The supplied wastewater treatment solution includes a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system and Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) biological treatment technology, designed to handle large wastewater flow rates and varying pollutant loads.
The supplied Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) equipment and MBBR biological treatment system have the following basic characteristics:
Suspended Solids Removal: Effectively removes suspended solids from wastewater through solid-liquid separation.
Effective Pretreatment: Provides an effective pretreatment process for municipal wastewater treatment.
Compact and Well-Designed Layout: Features a compact, space-efficient layout for practical installation.
Solid-Liquid Separation: Separates suspended particles and floating pollutants from wastewater.

The wastewater generated during industrial processes must undergo thorough pre-treatment before it can be discharged into the sewage system or returned to the environment for reuse in other processes. The dissolved air flotation (DAF) system is one of the most effective and widely used wastewater treatment management methods, and is widely applied in industrial and municipal wastewater treatment.
Yimei has over 28 years of experience in the design and manufacture of wastewater treatment systems. All of our wastewater treatment systems are fully manufactured in our own factory, enabling us to provide the highest efficiency and durability guarantee for each delivered equipment.
Municipal wastewater treatment usually combines physical separation, biological treatment and advanced treatment processes to reduce pollutant concentrations and meet required effluent discharge standards. For example, the design standard for this case is that the treated effluent complies with specified Agiman discharge standards: pH value 6.0 - 9.0, BOD less than 350 mg/L, COD less than 805 mg/L, TSS less than 400 mg/L, oil and grease less than 50 mg/L; TDS range is excluded.
The municipal wastewater treatment process usually includes the following steps:
Bar screen treatment: Remove large solids, debris and other coarse impurities from incoming wastewater.
Equalization tank treatment: Balance fluctuations in sewage flow and pollutant concentration to provide relatively stable inlet water conditions for subsequent treatment.
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF): According to wastewater characteristics, adopt the dissolved air flotation process to remove suspended solids, oils and other floatable contaminants.
Biological treatment: Depending on treatment requirements, select a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR), anoxic/aerobic (A/O) process or membrane bioreactor (MBR) to reduce biodegradable organic pollutants and assist in nitrogen removal when needed.
Solid-liquid separation: Remove suspended solids from the treated water via sedimentation tanks or membrane separation units based on the selected process.
Disinfection treatment: Disinfect the water when required, in accordance with applicable discharge standards or water reuse requirements.
Sludge treatment: Collect and process sludge produced during the wastewater treatment process.
Not all municipal wastewater treatment plants require all these treatment stages. Yimei can select and integrate suitable wastewater treatment units according to specific project conditions and effluent quality targets.
The equipment supplied for this project is an integrated wastewater treatment system. Prior to shipment, the equipment undergoes manufacturing inspection in accordance with project requirements to verify its structure, component assembly, and overall condition.
Municipal wastewater treatment plays a vital role in water resource management and environmental protection in the UAE. Given the limited availability of natural freshwater and the continuously growing demand for water, effective wastewater treatment helps reduce pollutant discharge, protect surrounding ecosystems, and support water reuse. For urban wastewater treatment projects, combining Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology with Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology enables efficient removal of suspended solids and reduction of organic pollutants through physical separation and biological treatment. Yimei provides practical solutions for municipal wastewater management.
